I love running!

I am really starting to get into running. It is so great for getting rid of stress and creating a feeling of accomplishment and happiness. I also dropped 5lbs again finally! My body really likes cardio and responds so quickly by ramping up my metabolism. I just have to stick with it! I have been getting alot of inspiration from my patients lately and want to honor their efforts by stepping up my own. Lets do this together everyone....lets pursue our own health! I will see you on the road sweating!

Couch to 5K in 8 weeks?

 Today I started using this new app on my Ipad that promises to get you from couch potato to 5K ready in 8 weeks. I actually enjoyed myself! It started out today with a 5 minute walk then alternating walk/run for 15 minutes and then a cool down of 5 minutes. The idea is to slowly increase the amount of running until you get up to running the entire 5K without having to slow to a walk. I have needed serious motivational help with exercise lately so I am hoping this is the trick I needed!

Lots of energy yeah!

Spring Cleaning inside and out?

We have no problem cleaning our clothes, brushing our teeth and washing our faces and our outward facing parts. Why then are we so squeamish about cleansing our innards?

As a rule most americans overeat simple carbs, fats and proteins while undereating vegetables and fruits. This is like swallowing preschool paste essentially over and over again. Eating the Standard American Diet can really and truly gum up the works.

There are many ways to go about cleansing the body and your choice needs to be guided by your trusted physician and with your specific chemistry in mind. Some great choices include simply eating the Living Well Plan, juice fasting, fruit and vegetable cleanse, protein shake cleansing among many others.

Find a reasonable program, check with your doctor and try doing your very own internal spring cleaning today!

The Results We both won....by losing!

Well suprisingly I weighed in this morning at 224.2 and won by one pound! Bekah was beating me for most of our little competition. Anyway the moral of the story is we both lost weight and we both broke through our plateaus by once again making it interesting and creating a short-term focused goal!

That is all you truly need to do people. You need to learn how to motivate yourself. What is it? Is it that designer outfit you still cant fit into, the need to look good at a specific event? Do you just want to be healthy and live a more exciting and active life?

Find something you will work for and set it up as a realistic but challenging goal and GO FOR IT!

Also make sure to only weigh yourself once a week at the sametime of day. I recommend once daily in the morning right after going to the bathroom, naked. Then you eliminate confusion caused by clothing, having a full bladder or bowel etc..) Our weights fluctuate slightly throughout the day so this method helps to eliminate some of the variables.

But technically speaking WE BOTH WON! We are smaller, leaner and happier than before. Share your victory with us!
